ABSTRACT The drying process can be useful to change the particulate structure, improving the powder solubility. In this study, we investigated the drying of foliar fertilizer in a spouted bed using polyethylene pellets as inert particles to improve its solubility. A 23 factorial experimental design was used to evaluate how the powder yield and moisture were affected by the feeding time, intermittency time, and feed atomizer position. The spouting instability caused powder retention on the bed wall, which decreased the powder recovery efficiency by 2.3-26.6%. Although the powder recovery efficiency was low, the solubility time was reduced by 5.9 times, probably due to particle agglomeration, which increased the amorphous phase of the fertilizer. Design alterations, suggested by the CFD data, can increase spouted bed stability and facilitate centralized spouting. Based on this, the spouted bed drying technique was applied, and it effectively increased the solubility of commercial fertilizer, thus, incorporating more desirable characteristics for field applications.

RESUMO O processo de secagem pode alterar a estrutura de sólidos, aumentando a solubilidade de pós. Este trabalho investigou a secagem de um fertilizante foliar em leito de jorro, empregando pellets de polietileno como sólido inerte, a fim de aumentar sua solubilidade. Utilizou-se um planejamento fatorial 23 para avaliar como a produtividade de pó e sua umidade foram influenciados pelo tempo de alimentação, tempo de intermitência a posição do bico atomizador dentro do leito. A instabilidade do jorro, causou a retenção de pó nas paredes do leito, o que conduziu a baixas eficiências de recuperação de pó (2,3 a 26,6%). Foram propostas alterações na geometria do leito, baseadas nas simulações CFD, a fim de aumentar a estabilidade do leito e centralização da fonte. Apesar da baixa produção de pó, a solubilidade foi reduzida em 5,9 vezes, provavelmente devido à aglomeração e aumento da fase amorfa na estrutura do pó. Assim, a secagem em leito de jorro foi efetiva em aumentar a solubilidade do fertilizante, incorporando uma característica atrativa à sua aplicação nas lavouras.

RESUMO A fertilização foliar é uma técnica altamente eficiente de aplicação de nutrientes necessários às plantas. Durante sua pulverização nas culturas, a a imcompatibilidade entre fertilizantes e e pesticidas pode causar o entupimento do spray devido à precispitação. Neste contexto, este trabalho teve como objetivo desenvolver um fertilizante foliar altamente dispersível para facilitar sua aplicação. Foi avaliado o efeito da vazão de ar, temperatura e vazão de alimentação da solução sobre o rendimento e produção de pó, sua solubilidade e umidade final. A solubilidade do pó foi aumentada devido a efeitos de capilaridade causados pela alta porosidade, rugosidade e aglomeração das partículas. Uma produtividade máxima de 0.336 kg/h f oi obtida a 175 ºC, com vazão de alimentação de 0.82 L/h e vazão de ar de 1.95 m3/min.

ABSTRACT Foliar fertilization is a highly efficient technique of applying needed plant nutrients. During pulverization in the field, the incompatibility between fertilizer and pesticides can cause clogging of the spray nozzles. So, this work aims to improve the solubility of foliar fertilizers to facilitate its application. The effect of airflow, inlet gas temperature, and feed solution flow rate over yield, productivity, solubility, and final moisture were evaluated. The powder solubility was improved because of the capillary effect caused by greater porosity, roughness, and particle agglomeration. The maximum productivity of 0.336 kg/h was obtained at 175 ºC, with a liquid feed of 0.82 L/h and an airflow rate of 1.95 m3/min.

A tecnologia está cada dia mais presente na vida moderna e tem sido importante aliada no ensino-aprendizagem dos cursos superiores de tecnología e ciencias exatas, principalmente nas engenharias. Muitas vezes, os discentes, julgam como difícil de asimilar conceitos abstratos, debido Í  grande quantidade de teoria e cálculos envolvidos dificultando a compreensÍ£o. A fim de reverter essa visÍ£o, o artigo tem como objetivo demonstrar a utilizaͧͣo da tecnologia no Í¢mbito educacional e contribuir nas melhorias da aprendizagem dos conteúdos obrigatórios de um curso superior em engenharia química. Para tal, idealizou o "Projeto Centrífuga", como ferramenta alternativa ao ensino de projeto de centrifugas tubulares, através de dados das condiͧ͵es operacionais e ampliaͧͣo de escalas de projetos. Concluiu-se que a tecnologia é uma importante aliada na no proceso educacional incentivando os acadͪmicos tornando-os parte da construͧͣo do conhecimento.

Technology is increasingly present in modern life and has been an important ally in the teaching and learning of advanced courses in technology and the exact sciences, especially in engineering. Often, the students think it difficult to assimilate abstract concepts, due to the large amount of theory and calculations involved making it difficult to understand. In order to reverse this view, the article aims to demonstrate the use of technology in the educational field and to contribute to improvements in the learning of the compulsory contents of a course in chemical engineering. For this purpose, he designed the "Centrifugal Project", as an alternative tool to teaching tubular centrifugal design, through data of the operational conditions and expansion of project scales. It was concluded that technology is an important ally in the educational process by encouraging academics to become part of the construction of knowledge.
